Tesla added a small but fun customization option: a custom lock sound. It is not essential, but it is exactly the kind of personal touch that makes a car feel a little more like yours.
What you need
- A short sound file in `.wav` format.
- The file renamed to `LockChime.wav`.
- A USB drive that your Tesla can read.
How it works
- Prepare the `.wav` file and keep it under Tesla's size limit.
- Copy it to your USB drive as `LockChime.wav`.
- Plug the USB drive into the car.
- Open the Toybox/BoomBox area and select the USB sound.
- Lock the car and test it.
I used a monster-style growl/breathing sound. It is a small thing, but small personal details are part of what makes tech feel less generic.
